On December 18, 2024, we hosted the concluding event of the “Think Tank Chance for Youth” initiative. This conference was aimed at assessing the active roles young individuals have assumed in the policymaking arena through this innovative project. The event showcased the achievements of these young leaders and set a discussion platform on the future of youth engagement in regional and broader European governance.

The conference was designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the initiatives undertaken by young participants throughout the year. It aimed to highlight the transformative potential of youth involvement in policy development and the benefits of such engagements for regional governance strategies. The participation of key regional figures, including RNDr. Jan Veřmiřovský, Ph.D., MBA, LL., Deputy Governor for Education, Youth and Sport, demonstrated the weight of institutional backing for incorporating young perspectives in policy dialogues.

Detailed Activities

A dedicated segment for networking allowed attendees to forge connections with policymakers, community leaders, and fellow participants. This part of the conference was structured to accelerate future collaborations and ensure that the momentum generated by the initiative continued to inspire young individuals.

The “Think Tank Chance for Youth” final conference highlighted the accomplishments of young leaders and charted a path for their continued influence in policy-making. The Ostrava conference has laid down a replicable blueprint for engaging youth in governance, highlighting the capabilities of young minds to contribute constructively to societal advancements. As we move forward, the insights gathered from this initiative will undoubtedly shape future policies and encourage a more inclusive approach to governance.

As we reflect on the outcomes of the conference, it becomes increasingly clear that the active participation of youth in policy-making is not just beneficial but essential for the creation of resilient and inclusive societies.
